Pluto at 29° Capricorn – A Karmic Reckoning

I discuss the imminent astrological transit of Pluto to 29° Capricorn followed very shortly thereafter by Pluto’s first ingress into Aquarius since 1777. This remarkable astrology heralds a significant shift in energy and changes that will manifest in our world.

Episode transcript:

Greetings all, it is January 26, 2023.

One of the things on my list of things to talk about is the imminent transit of Pluto at 29 degrees, or the anaretic degree of Capricorn.

This will mark the beginning of the transition from Pluto in Capricorn, where it has been transiting since 2008, to the transit of Aquarius, which will officially commence on March 23 of this year, so very soon.

Pluto hits 29 degrees of Capricorn on February 11 and then makes its first ingress into Aquarius on March 23.

Now why is this significant?

The anaretic degree, or the 29th degree, of any sign, is considered to be extra potent because the energies reach a culmination before they shift to the next sign and start a whole new cycle in that new sign.

So for example, people who have natal planets or points at 29 degrees tend to have fairly dramatic experiences pertaining to those points and their characteristics.

Now, as I said, Pluto has been transiting Capricorn since the beginning of 2008, so roughly 15 years. And Pluto shifting signs is a big deal because it takes Pluto 248 years to orbit around the Sun. The transit of Pluto through Aquarius will be roughly 20 years.

This has been on my mind because I just have always sensed that this was a big deal. Pluto at 29 degrees is a big deal, but Pluto also shifting into Aquarius is a very big deal.

Now, the actual transition from Pluto and Capricorn into Pluto and Aquarius will occur starting in March right up through November of 2024, because Pluto will retrograde, or from our perspective appear to go backwards, several times between now and then. It’ll finally settle in into Aquarius more permanently in November of 2024 all the way through January of 2044.

So as I said this was on my list of things to talk about soon and then when I woke this morning I had had a very strong urge or impression intuitively to jump on it.

Now the last time Pluto was at 29 degrees of Capricorn was 1777 and 1778. That kind of puts it in perspective how big of a deal this is. And of course, what occurred around that time was the American Revolution. The American Revolution is conceivably one of the most important things that has happened geopolitically in human history. The rise of America has completely reshaped the world.

Pluto at 29 degrees Capricorn dates graphic

I’m not going to go into a lot of detail about this because I’ve done several episodes of Pluto transiting Aquarius and also the Pluto return of the United States, which has been going on for the past couple years, and it would be redundant for me to repeat all that. You can always just search my YouTube channel for the word Pluto, and it’ll bring up all those episodes.

But I do want to draw your attention to what’s occurring here now or about to occur in a couple weeks, because it’s very exciting. We are living in a very historic time when the seeds of very profound and far-reaching changes are being planted. We may not fully appreciate this point in history until we look back at it several generations from now possibly.

Now the way I perceive this is that I see this as a karmic reckoning, a comeuppance as it were.

Pluto in Capricorn has really been drawing our attention to how power has been concentrated in the hands of a few individuals. The plutocrats, that’s Pluto. As well as corporations and various government and institutional entities.

Dark money, dark power, the patriarchy, the oppression of the masses, corruption, reactionary and conservative forces, the whole concern around fascism and authoritarianism that we’ve been dealing with. Populism, voter suppression, crazy tax cuts for plutocrats, rampant and unhinged conspiracy theories, corruption in the judiciary being exposed, violent insurrections and coups, abuses of power, lying, cheating… You know, all that stuff we’ve been experiencing. These crazy abuses of power and literally off the charts kind of stuff.

Like if we look at the former American administration under 45, it’ll go down as one of the most insane and nuts administrations in US history, if not the most insane. And we have also seen tremendous wealth concentration in the hands of a few, literally a few tax-dodging billionaires.

So when Pluto gets to the final degrees of a sign, there tends to be a reckoning or comeuppance with respect to the issues that were being brought to our attention through the qualities of that sign. Think of it as a purge, not necessarily pleasant, but sometimes needed. And already we’ve been seeing a lot of people starting to be investigated and prosecuted and all kinds of underhanded crimes coming to light within the realms of power around the world. So watch for a lot of major developments in this time span.

The first ingress of Pluto in Aquarius will be from March 23rd until June 11th of 2023. This is really historic stuff.

You know, when Pluto first entered Capricorn, almost immediately we had the 2007-2008 financial crisis, which, if it had not been for significant intervention on the part of the US government, we would have gone into a global depression, the likes of which have not been seen since the 1930s. You know, that is historic.

We are now going to start seeing that energy come into Aquarius and culminate in Capricorn as I’ve been explaining. So just pay attention.

Ideally, like, I would love to just have lots of free time so I could just sort of sit and observe this period. And I’ll mention this as well, and I think I’ve said it before, but I have, you know, studied astrology for decades, and I have been saying for many, many years, I want to be here when Pluto goes into Aquarius. And that is two months from now. Finally.

Anyway, stay tuned, grab some popcorn, watch this shift of energy go from Earth to air, and all of these new issues are going to, things are going to change very quickly and dramatically. I’ve been putting some graphs on the screen which give you all the dates, and I’ll put a link to my Pluto and Aquarius episode there as well in the description of this episode so that you can check that out.

So this is a very exciting and dramatic time, and I’ve also been feeling this looming really big, deep energy of change that’s really kind of a little bit hard to pinpoint or decipher because we’re not quite in it. I’ve been feeling it energetically for several months now, but the fireworks have yet to begin.

So stay tuned and take care and I’ll talk to you soon.

Pluto in Aquarius – Dawn of Global Consciousness: 2023 – 2044

I discuss the astrology of the transit of Pluto through Aquarius which will commence starting in 2023.

This major shift in energies will profoundly transform many aspects of society and our lives. As far as I am concerned it will be a very significant step in our journey into the dawning Age of Aquarius.

I also discuss Pluto transiting through Capricorn – which has been occurring since 2008 – and how that has shaped our world.

Personally, I have been anticipating Pluto entering Aquarius for well over a decade.

Find out why. Enjoy!

This is a transcript of an episode I published on my YouTube channel on February 14, 2022.

Episode transcript:

Welcome to Aquarian Diary where we discuss issues around the emerging Age of Aquarius. I’m your host, John Irving. Thank you for joining me!

Greetings all it is February 14, 2022.

I’ve been working on this for over a week, so please accept my apologies for theinconsist ent audio and recording which you will notice. It’s amazing how much your voice can change hour to hour, and day to day.

But this is a really fascinating subject I am very excited to be able to talk about and share with you. These times that we are in have to be one of the most interesting periods in all of human history. I sincerely hope you find the following interesting enlightening and worthwhile. I am looking forward to returning to more spiritually oriented topics after this episode but this transit of Pluto moving into Aquarius soon is one of the critical components of the extraordinary changes that are occurring at this point in the earth’s history.

Today I want to talk about something that to me is of great significance and importance this has been on my mind for well over 10 years. Anticipating this particular transit or ingress of Pluto into Aquarius which will commence in 2023. Coupled with the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at zero degrees of Aquarius in December of 2020, these transits herald the beginning of a new era. The magnitude and scope of the implications of these transits are extremely significant. To me trying to cover these topics in a condensed form is daunting.

Before I get started I need to make clear that I am not going to be covering every major astrological transit that has occurred in this time period – namely the time period that Pluto was in Capricorn. For example we had a very significant Uranus square Pluto transit, Saturn has been squaring Uranus, we had Saturn and Pluto conjunct in Capricorn, amongst others. It would be very time consuming to cover everything that’s occurred over the past decade or so. However, in the backdrop there’s always which sign Pluto was occupying at the time that shows what themes are up for major or significant transformation, and that is what I will be focusing on here today.

Also when I use terms such as “the powers that be” or “the status quo” they are really just placeholders for world views or paradigms and not necessarily a reference to any specific groups, organizations or individuals.

First of all we need to talk a little bit about the influence or role of Pluto in world affairs. Pluto in its rawest form is like pure power or energy and as it moves through an astrological sign it imbues the qualities of that sign amplifying them, and as far as the world is concerned, bringing those themes or areas to our attention in many profound ways.

Pluto by challenging transit will often bring about periods of metaphorical death rebirth and complete transformation of what it comes in contact with. These periods of crisis can be dramatic and very significant, if not life-altering or destiny altering. As aspects of ourselves, or of states or nations or entities, have to go through a period of significant dissolution before they can be regenerated into something more substantial, whole, meaningful and that is in integrity. It can be akin to a wrecking ball to what is outmoded or no longer valid. Under its influence these periods can be experienced as being very tumultuous and only really actually fully appreciated as being beneficial and transformative with hindsight from some future perspective.

For years I have advised people undergoing Pluto transits to try to not be in resistance to the flow of those energies as being in resistance will make the inevitable process of transformation more difficult and challenging. Pluto’s energies are far too powerful to resist. Unfortunately when I observe what is going on in the world these days I see a tremendous amount of resistance. Thus I expect that this current period will continue to be challenging and tumultuous and even more difficult than it needs to be.

People are desperately clinging to outmoded structures, paradigms and worldviews, and resisting the call to evolve. Those in positions of power and privilege are not readily inclined to release their grip and Saturn is very resistant to change as I will explain shortly.

When we understand Pluto and how it works we can see how it influenced periods of history in various ways. Like I said it can empower people, places and situations and give them a great deal of intensity, for better or for worse. For example many world leaders or very powerful figures in world history have had strongly placed Pluto’s in their natal charts. Although this grants them a lot of power, there is often a significant comeuppance or retribution eventually if they choose to abuse that power. This can lead to dramatic and sometimes very public and humiliating downfalls and the destruction of all that they have aspired to. Pluto can be utterly devastating to an inflated ego which naively and mistakenly believes that it is the source of true power. It has an intensely karmic aspect to it.

When Pluto was in Sagittarius between 1995 and 2008 we saw really the dawn of the internet and global communications. Sagittarius rules all things international as well as philosophy, religion higher education, broadcasting and the media. There were revolutions in publishing, broadcasting, the media and communications technologies, which profoundly changed the world. Without question the dawn of the internet has completely changed every aspect or sphere of human activity. We went from being disparately and periodically connected to being constantly connected and aware of what was going on around the world at any moment in time. The world also saw the darker expression of this energy through religious fanaticism, extremism and fundamentalism, including brutal acts of ideologically motivated terrorism, wars, subjugation and oppression. Also during this time president Bill Clinton brought China into the world trade organization. Some American business interests eagerly imagined a new marketplace of a billion plus consumers for their products. Although that never materialized it set the stage for profound changes in global trade and manufacturing which would mark a critical turning point in human history.

Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008 and will be there roughly until 2024. Traditionally, in mundane astrology, the 10th house rules government, rulers, leaders of governments, kings queens, CEO’s, the seat of power… the top of hierarchical structures. It deals with the nation’s reputation status, credit… the state of the nation in terms of public employment. Saturn – the ruler of Capricorn and the tenth house – governs things like karma, responsibility, duty, obligations, long lasting structures and foundations. The tenth house is where we strive for achievement and status, often through concentrated and deliberate effort over time. It represents the culmination of our efforts to be recognized. To be at the top of the heap, or at least to try. Saturn a very masculine energy. When negatively expressed or aspected, or taken to extremes, can express itself very darkly by being cruel, dominating, repressive, controlling, authoritarian, punitive, rigid, inflexible, demanding, obstinate, restrictive, narrow-minded uncompromising, unforgiving, judgmental, harsh, patriarchal, intolerant, narrow-minded, excessively conservative, fearful, paranoid, defensive, oppressive, reactionary. And of course these attitudes can result in issues with repressed anger and resentment as well as fear of change, or threats to its status, dominance or any perceived threats to conformity or the status quo. To be clear this is not Saturn itself acting in this way it is the individual, entity, group or organization which is expressing the negative aspects of Saturnian energy.

We can see why the combination of the intense powerful and deep energies of Pluto combined with the rigid and controlling energies of Saturn have produced many of the trends we have been observing in recent social and political history. Saturn and Pluto conjuncted in Capricorn in January of 2020. The fact that this occurred in Saturn’s own sign lended great potency and emphasis to this alignment, and especially all themes Saturnian. Although Saturn and Pluto conjunct about every 33 to 38 years this was the first time it had occurred in Capricorn since the year 1518, over 500 years ago.

I made a list of some of the major issues that have come up during this period while Pluto has been transiting Capricorn. This is by no means exhaustive but they certainly fit within the themes one would expect to materialize during such a transit. I will put these items on the screen as well. It’s quite remarkable when you consider it, really.

  • At the very beginning one of the major events that occurred was the 2008 financial crisis and the bailout of the banks at taxpayer expense – without repercussions for the offenders. Followed by record low interest rates and quantitative easing to stimulate economic activity and avoid a global depression akin to what occurred in the 1930’s.
  • The election of Barack Obama, which triggered a reactionary and often racially motivated backlash.
  • The Fukushima nuclear disaster which was a gross regulatory failure.
  • The Panama Papers which disclosed how wealthy individuals were hiding their assets and wealth in offshore tax shelters.
  • The Edward Snowden revelations which exposed the absolute extent of government surveillance of all manner of communications.
  • The geopolitical ascendancy of China – a non-democratic autocratic nation.
  • The offshoring of manufacturing to countries with cheap labor, minimalist worker rights and environmental regulations.
  • A dramatic increase in social and political polarization.
  • The rise of right-wing, illiberal, autocratic and populist leaders.
  • The erosion of democratic and electoral norms and institutions.
  • The rise of misinformation and disinformation through social media and other platforms including some major news networks devoted to right-wing ideologies.
  • Rates of income and wealth disparity reached obscene levels during this period where a handful of billionaires own as much wealth as half of the world’s population.
  • The increasing consolidation of many key business sectors by a small number of corporate entities.
  • The specter of fascism, racism and right-wing extremism.
  • Brexit, which was a populist backlash largely based on misinformation and wishful thinking.
  • Foreign actors interfering with and undermining liberal democracies.
  • A significant lack of action to combat the climate change and global environmental crisis. It was for the most part business as usual despite growing alarm and consensus on the part of the world’s scientists and esteemed scientific bodies.
  • Displacement and disruption due to changing climatic patterns and severe weather events.
  • The adoption of the term anthropocene to define a new geologic epoch in earth’s planetary history in which human activity and its byproducts are the dominant factor or influence.
  • Increasingly extremist social and political movements with primarily caucasian right-wing domestic threats identified as a dominant concern.
  • An alarming erosion and undermining of democratic institutions protocols and safeguards by illiberal forces.
  • Significant efforts to suppress and interfere with voting access rights and privileges.
  • Insurrectionists attempted to overthrow democratically elected governments.
  • Scientists, academics, experts, journalists, public officials and even private citizens were harassed, attacked and intimidated in the so-called culture wars.
  • A global pandemic on a scale not seen in a hundred years affecting trade, supply chains, employment and living routines.
  • Social unrest due to pandemic protocols and medical misinformation. The rise of the anti-vaxxer movement.
  • Increasing tensions between the United States and China and the United States, Europe and Russia.
  • Growing concerns about significant bubbles in the stock market and real estate markets triggered by historically low interest rates.
  • Historic levels of inflation resulting in spiraling costs of living particularly for those with marginal incomes, which fueled resentment even further.
  • Legitimate concerns about social breakdowns and even civil war in leading democracies, particularly in America.
  • Increasing concerns about the state of the global economy due to the aforementioned issues.

And so while Pluto has been transiting through Capricorn we have become very aware of how these areas of life have been influencing us, how they’ve been abused – because again Pluto is power and power can be easily corrupted. Even if there are karmic consequences for that they may not be experienced immediately. So Pluto has been enhancing all of these areas of life. We’ve all been witnessing this play out through these years commencing in 2008 and we’ve all become very aware of the potential for these powers to be misused and then therefore how those areas of society and life need to be renewed, regenerated or reformed.

Now when Pluto goes into Aquarius this is in a completely different energy and area of life that will be emphasized. Aquarius rules the 11th house which is a very different energy. It is fixed air versus cardinal earth. Its modern ruler is Uranus, its traditional ruler is Saturn (which never made sense to me). Uranus is the planet of change revolution and innovation. It breaks up stagnant or outmoded or redundant structures or patterns and it can do so quite dramatically.

Aquarius is visionary, egalitarian, future-oriented, progressive, independent, individualistic, logical, rational, and intelligent. It disdains hypocrisy and injustice and is willing to make sacrifices for core beliefs or principles. Aquarians are rebellious and will not accept arbitrary power or authority at face value. Respect must be earned and maintained. They do not adhere to dogma for the sake of dogma, or tradition alone. This does not bode well for institutions such as organized religion or people wedded to archaic dogmatic ideologies, for example, which are legacies of the Piscean Age energies.

The 11th house, the house of Aquarius and Uranus, governs society at large, the people, community, community engagement, involvement and collaboration. Organizations that deal with humanitarian and egalitarian issues that deal with the transformation and evolution of society. So we can see that the energies of the 11th house are very different. The 10th house deals with power and power structures, and the attempt to consolidate and impose power. Whereas the 11th house seeks to revolutionize systems and is more concerned with distributing power and the welfare of society and the people. Very, very different energies.

Pluto’s orbit is elliptical – it will spend shorter or longer periods of time in each sign depending on where it is so it’s going to be in Aquarius for almost 20 years commencing in 2023 all the way through 2044. And we can think of what this transit will herald as the dawn of collective consciousness or global consciousness. Where we extend beyond the boundaries of our own limited reality and take into account brighter societal implications and the welfare of others. It is not prone to things like conspiracy theories or BS because that’s just not what Aquarius is all about. It’s very rational, very intelligent, scientifically oriented, forward-looking. It’s not about just immediate benefit or gain, or like I said the consolidation of power. It will make sacrifices for the betterment of society.

I briefly mentioned the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in December of 2020. Now that’s significant because those conjunctions occur roughly every 20 years. But since 1802 these Great Conjunctions have been occurring in earth signs and the Great Conjunction in December of 2020 was one of the first conjunctions in air signs. And that pattern will now continue uninterrupted in air signs for almost 200 years, the last one occurring in 2199. These conjunctions of Jupiter and Saturn mark very significant periods of time. The previous cycle of Jupiter and Saturn in air signs ended in the year 1405, some 600 years ago. The collective energy is shifting more from earth to air, and air is a mental, intellectual or rational energy.

We have Pluto soon to move into Aquarius where it’ll transform society from a very different perspective than it has while it was in Capricorn. This will have very profound implications for humanity. I will put all of these dates in greater detail on the screen. The first ingress or the first time that Pluto will go into Aquarius will be on March 23, 2023 through June 11 of 2023. It will retrograde back into Capricorn and then it’ll move into Aquarius again in January of 2024 through September of 2024 and then it will move more permanently into Aquarius in November of 2024 all the way through 2043.

A couple notable historical events in history that occurred the last time that Pluto was in Aquarius were the French Revolution in 1789 and the American revolution of 1776. In the early 1780’s Massachusetts abolished slavery.

As I’ve said Aquarius is very revolutionary energy and it doesn’t put up with or abuses of power, authority or idiocy. Those who will be welcome energies indeed, from our perspective now. When Pluto goes into Aquarius in 2023 we will start to see people in a sense revolt against abusive power structures that put power into the hands of a few people versus the masses. That can also apply to any other tyrannical or abusive power structures, could be corporate could be in banking or finance or with industries that are abusive.

Aquarian energy would also be much more concerned about environmental issues, human rights issues and justice and fairness for all. So we can expect to see those who hold those kinds of energies or views to become much more prominent than the sort of patriarchal top-down power structures we have been confronted with so intensely over recent years. And let’s face it there are many aspects of society that are in profound need of those kinds of transformational energies. The status quo or the power structures that seem to be controlling us at this point in time are literally unsustainable for our planet.

Uranus can bring sharp and sudden and dramatic shifts in your life or in the course of your life if you have a strong Uranus transit affecting your natal chart. And they can be very surprising and dramatic, like I said. So I expect that when we see Pluto begin to move into Aquarius we will see very sharp and sudden and dramatic actions and reactions to outmoded forms of control and power. Aquarius is not about the me, it’s about the us.

There’s a lot of interesting things to consider here because Uranus can be very revolutionary and challenging to existing structures – those that are corrupt or defunct. Uranus is so different that is actually tilted on its side, it has a very different rotational axis from any other planet in our solar system.

And like I said it is evidence-based and generally rational. A lot of the issues that we see playing out in the world at the time of this recording are reactionary because I think these institutions and individuals recognize a looming period where they will lose control and their privilege with it. Now of course we have the technology so that we can all be connected and aware of everything that’s happening around the world, almost in real time. So there is no way to fully control or put that genie back in the bottle. There will be kind of a collective uprising against those forms of tyrannical control and power and dominance.

One of the truisms about Uranus is that because it can be so surprising is that we can never fully predict how it will play out. There always seems to be some kind of element of events that we didn’t anticipate, that are surprising to us. It can often deal with things that are outside of her beyond our experience or awareness and that are only appreciated in hindsight after events have transpired.

I would anticipate events to occur that are outside of our past experience. If there was a time where humanity was going to encounter other forms of intelligent life, for example, this would be when it would occur. That would be something that is radically outside of our past experience and these energies would be conducive to things like that. The 11th house governs society and Uranus can completely change the way we understand our role in society and how we are connected to other beings even possibly beyond our own earth. If humanity is going to go beyond the boundaries of our planetary limitations this would be the time where at the very least those seeds would be planted.

What follows is conjecture on my part, of course. However, if what I suggest do not fully materialize I do believe that many of these changes or concepts will at least begin to germinate during this period.

  • I would anticipate very significant revolutions in the area of science and technology.
  • Using my imagination some areas where we may see some significant or revolutionary advancements include:
  • New forms of non-polluting renewable energy.
  • New forms of energy which allow people to produce their own energy independent of centralized energy sources (off-grid so-to-speak).
  • Green energy and distributed, decentralized energy production and significant advancements in how we store energy – battery technology and the like.
  • The end of the fossil fuel era and the transition to electric vehicles and transportation.
  • Significantly more advanced forms of transportation which allow us to traverse the globe more efficiently and quickly.
  • Significant advancements in computing and quantum computing.
  • Decentralized communications, telecommunications and networking.
  • Significant advancements in all the sciences and engineering, including new materials.
  • Significant advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics, emancipating people from the drudgery of routine labor so they can focus on more intellectual pursuits.
  • Significant advancements in gene therapy as a form of medicine and healing as well as a means of combating chronic and contagious diseases and illnesses.
  • The end of paper currency and the widespread use of some form of digital currency – probably sanctioned by government
  • The adoption and implementation of some form of universal basic income, socialized medicine and health care.
  • More readily accessible and affordable higher education.
  • Stricter laws and regulations concerning corporate rights versus individual or collective rights.
  • Stricter regulations on corporations versus the rights of the individual or society.
  • Systems to control or limit the damage caused by disinformation and misinformation including in broadcasting and the media.
  • Significant advancements with respect to electoral systems – the adoption and implementation of some form of proportional representation as an electoral system versus the archaic first-past-the-post electoral systems many countries still use. As proportional representation – or some form of it – as it yields a much more accurate representation of the will of the people. It is also likely we will see more multi-party systems.
  • Political campaign finance laws to limit or restrict the rights of corporations to have undue influence over electoral outcomes.
  • The new economy is likely to become increasingly more knowledge-based.
  • Greater decentralization of work habits – in other words more freedom to work remotely or from distant locations and probably a shorter work week and greater worker rights.
  • A general recognition and appreciation for those who are learned or who have high levels of expertise or that are well educated as opposed to the current emphasis on people who are of high status and wealth.
  • A clamp down on things like predatory lending.
  • Expanded social safety nets including greater support for child care and child rearing.
  • Greater recognition for teachers and the important role they play in society (strong chills there, I’ve always… I’ve known quite a few teachers – they really deserve our support).
  • Much stricter environmental regulations for carbon emissions, pollution, chemicals and the like.
  • Possible significant advancements with fusion as a form of grid-based energy which is renewable.
  • And, of course, an emphasis on education and learning which will be lifelong activities.
  • Overall I expect it to be akin to the Industrial Revolution in scope but this revolution will be a technological, scientific, intellectual and societal revolution. We can also expect to see tremendous political and social reform.
  • Aquarian energy is completely comfortable with people expressing their unique individuality. That would relate to gender identity through sexual expression and liberation or whether they are of different ethnicity or race or color or culture doesn’t matter. The Aquarius energy welcomes diversity, individuality and unique expression. it will not recognize artificial, dogmatic or irrational boundaries or borders between people be they racial, economic or socio-political. Like I said it has kind of a disdain for patriarchal top-down rules that only exist to serve a structure and not humanity itself.
  • I would not be surprised to see greater international and global communication and cooperation to address transnational issues such as the climate crisis and the environmental crisis, as well as humanitarian issues such as hunger, poverty, health care and lack of education.
  • Sustainable agriculture will almost certainly be addressed and probably we will see a shift to more vegetarian eating and less consumption of meat due to its exceptionally high carbon footprint and low yield of calories for energy invested, and its highly inefficient use of vast tracts of land.
  • Finally I almost certainly think we will see – with a very high degree of certainty – that the astonishing levels of income disparity inequality and unfair taxation will be finally addressed. Fairness will be the mantra. That you can pretty much bank on.

People who have significant points in their natal chart that are in air or fire will probably benefit most from this transit as the energies of Aquarius are more in tune with air and fire.

Leo’s will have Pluto oppose their Sun. Scorpios and Taurus will have Pluto square their Sun. And of course Aquarius will have Pluto conjunct their Sun at some point during this transit (which is a very long transit).

Pluto will be opposing Leo ruled by the Sun so this will present challenges for those who are overly self-oriented, egotistical or narcissistic. It may also affect the way we deal or have to deal with children.

It will be squaring Scorpio so there may be significant issues or changes that need to be made in the areas of psychology, sexuality, reproduction, child rearing, deep interpersonal relationships, mental health and well-being – dealing with trauma, grief and abuse, etc.

As well Pluto will be squaring Taurus, which is ruled by Venus, and relates to issues around property, real estate and money, and the harvest, so there could be issues with food production and availability during this time. And I would not be surprised if we saw major issues with the banking and finance sector at some point during this transit. There could be significant disruptions to our economy the stock market and real estate and things like that. Those areas are all up for very significant change and transformation during this 20-year long period.

I personally feel that this shift of Pluto into Aquarius, in close conjunction to the great Saturn and Jupiter conjunction at the very beginning of Aquarius – literally at zero degrees Aquarius, are hallmarks of the major shifting or stepping stones or turning points or gateways into the age of Aquarius.

Like I said I have been looking forward to this for well over a decade. It’s probably self-evident but if you’ve listened to my videos you can see that i’m very progressive. And I do not really understand or resonate with selfish, self-centered, acquisitive or very materialistic behaviors or patterns or paradigms. This shift of energies into Aquarius would certainly benefit someone with a perspective like mine. And I presume that many of the people who are listening to my channel would be similarly inclined.

We will get a first taste of this at the end of March of 2023 and it’ll take a year and a half for those energies to fully settle in. There’ll be a dance back and forth between Aquarius and Capricorn through 2023 into the latter half of 2024 when the energies fully settle into Aquarius.

Again because Uranus can manifest quickly and dramatically I think we’re going to start to see how this is going to play out very quickly and so those of us who are very concerned about how we’re facing the threat of what appears to be fascism in many regards right now – populism which is based on a lot of lies and disinformation and misinformation – all that kind of crap will be laid to rest very quickly when Pluto moves into Aquarius. It will favor things like democratic socialism and progressivism. As opposed to the rule of the many by the few it’ll be the rule of the many for the many.

So this should really help us deal with, say for example, the environmental crisis, climate change and things like that because Aquarians do not put up with BS and they are very socially responsible and socially concerned and the environment will certainly play a role in that.

This energy will also help us develop technologies that can get us off fossil-fuel-based energy systems or energy systems that are detrimental to our health or welfare or well-being in the long run because it is so socially concerned and aware. It will take a long view of the impacts of industrial activity like that.

This will be tremendously exciting and inspiring and rational… thank God.

I’ve been wanting to produce this for a very long time now. The dramas that have been playing out as a result of Pluto transiting Capricorn will reach a crescendo in particular when Pluto reaches 29 degrees Capricorn – an Anoretic degree. The 29th degree of signs is considered to be a very intense degree because it’s the very last degree of that sign where all of those energies kind of reach a culmination just before a planet moves into the following sign.

Like I said the ingress or when Pluto first moves into Aquarius will be March 23rd of 2023. I’ll put the dates for this on the screen but Pluto will be generally at 29 degrees Capricorn from June until July of 2023, from December of 2023 to January of 2024 and September of 2024 to November of 2024. Again that’s when Pluto will be at 29 degrees Capricorn so we can anticipate some fairly dramatic events around those dates just because of the intensity of both Pluto and the 29th degree or the Anoretic degree.

In fact the last time Pluto will retrograde and then station direct at 29 degrees – again that’s September to November of 2024 – we can anticipate intense or dramatic developments in that time frame. It could even manifest as one last desperate grasp by the powers that be or the status quo to try and maintain or enforce or impose its worldview. Or maybe some very dark and unknown truths come to light at that time which function as the last or final straw or the last nail in the coffin of the status quo or the powers that be. Which then becomes the spark or the fuel which ignites the revolution which will occur when Pluto moves into Aquarius. We shall see.

Now one of the potential downsides of this transit is that Aquarius can be kind of an aloof and detached and sometimes a bit cold sign because they’re very rational and intellectual and they’re a little bit uncomfortable with their emotional side. It all depends on your natal chart and how it’s configured. so there is the potential for doctrines to kind of be imposed upon society in a technocratic kind of way. Most likely left-wing societal structures.

I think that because we will be facing a lot of very significant global challenges – that traditional aspects of society and our economies and so forth are not equipped to deal with – there is that potential of having some kind of a top-down kind of approach to doing things. There could be in that event controls or surveillance over the flow of communications, information and knowledge (which we already have, let’s face it, in the United States, as Snowden revealed to the world.) So I hope we don’t manifest the negative potential of this transit, but it’s something that we should be aware of as this transit approaches.

I will certainly be paying attention to what events transpire during those times when Pluto is at 29 degrees of Capricorn. Pluto will bring to our awareness all of the areas that it touches and put them in our faces so that we can see what is corrupt. So that we can address it and deal with it and then move on.

So often it looks like there are, for example, attempts to control or dominate or impose power or will upon others but this is occurring so that we can see what needs to be fixed essentially or reformed. And so this whole transit of Pluto through Capricorn has really been showing us how our systems of governance and power and leadership are being abused. So that we can reform them or correct them. This whole period from 2008 through 2024 that’s been a major theme globally and for pretty much every country in the world. When Pluto moves into Aquarius is when a lot of those reforms – those needed reforms – where old structures that are no longer actually serving the people will be either obliterated or reformed or new structures will be created that are more in line with the benefit of the masses.

Aquarius will literally fight for its beliefs and if we consider what occurred during the French Revolution and the American Revolution that is quite evident. They will not put up with BS basically and they are willing to lay their lives on the line to make whatever changes are needed. So I would not want to be somebody who is heavily invested in the status quo if that status quo is corrupted or exploitive.

On a spiritual level for those who are so engaged we can anticipate things like being very aware of the collective on an energetic level and this could include psychic phenomenon and telepathy. As we gain the ability to bridge what were formerly impenetrable borders, the boundaries and definitions and limitations of three-dimensional time and space will begin to be dissolved. And I also wouldn’t be surprised if we find that science starts to identify discernibly how some of these mechanisms work. How we are all connected on subtle energetic levels that we formerly did not perceive or understand. So you can expect that like I said what were borders or boundaries between us as individuals and us as collective beings – and even possibly us in relation to other forms of intelligent life in the universe – that those borders or boundaries will be overcome and we will have direct experience that transcend time space and three dimensions. Our understanding and definition of life itself and what is alive, or what is conscious, may also be significantly expanded. Although it’s possible the complete understanding of that may not occur until we are further into the age of Aquarius.

I’m not suggesting that all of humanity is going to experience those kinds of things profoundly but people in the vanguard I certainly think they will. That would be people who are at a more advanced level of spiritual development and consciousness.

All in all tremendously exciting and for those of us who are completely fed up with the paradigms that currently dominate our world. This will be a period of tremendous revolution and the endings of a lot of structures that have limited us in the past. We can anticipate very dramatic and rapid advancements during this time – things that we could not even or did not even predict.

It’s interesting that I am here commenting on this subject – one of the biggest subjects of all I think – I have had my progressed Sun in Aquarius for a few years and I have had Pluto enter my 11th house not too long ago for probably the rest of my life.

So stay tuned. This period that we’re going to be entering in the not too distant future is going to be incredibly powerful.

Again, we’ve got the Pluto moving to 29 degrees Capricorn in 2023 through early 2024 – until it fully settles in at the end of 2024 – until 2044. So this is kind of like the dawn of collective or global consciousness and the end of abusive and corrupted patriarchal power structures.

I’ll leave you with one other thought which I had as I was finishing up editing this and that’s this: I think that nations that resonate with this Aquarian energy with Pluto and Aquarius are the ones that will fare the best in the coming times. Think about that because it’s kind of like being in a group where you don’t fit in. You know you don’t just jive with the energy and you’re really awkward and out of place? That’s kind of what it’ll be like in the world as we move further into this Aquarian energy. Nations and peoples that jive with that energy will probably prosper the most. And the same for people too. I hope you’re one of them.

Thanks so much for spending time with me I look forward to doing it again soon.

The Dark Side of Pluto in Aquarius: 2023 – 2044

I discuss what we can expect from the dark or more challenging aspects of the upcoming very significant transit of Pluto in Aquarius, from 2023 through 2044.

I recommend that you watch or listen to the episode I published on February 14, 2022 titled Pluto in Aquarius – Dawn of Global Consciousness prior to viewing this episode, as it is more thorough in many respects.

This is a transcript of an episode of Aquarian Diary I published on October 4, 2022.

Episode transcript:

Welcome to Aquarian Diary, where we discuss issues around the emerging Age of Aquarius. I’m your host John Irving. Thank you for joining me.

Greetings all. It is October 3rd 2022.

On February 14th of this year I published one of my most time intensive videos to produce titled Pluto in Aquarius – Dawn of Global Consciousness. That episode was almost an hour long and at that time I was quite concerned about producing an episode that would be too lengthy. I felt like an hour was pushing it, so I didn’t go into a lot of detail about the darker or more challenging side of Pluto transiting Aquarius, and I want to do that here.

As I said I went into a fair amount of detail about how Pluto transiting Aquarius, commencing in 2023 through 2044, was going to affect society and our experience, and I also discussed how it had been manifesting as it transited Capricorn, which is what we’re experiencing right now. So I’m not going to revisit all of that detail here, obviously that would be redundant. So I strongly encourage you to listen to that episode prior to listening to this one, if you haven’t already. I’ll put a link to it in the description of this episode.

Now during this over 20-year transit there will of course be many other transits occurring during that time any one of which if it’s significant could have dramatic implications in the world so don’t think that Pluto transiting Aquarius is the only thing that’s going to be going on. There is always a constantly changing astrological climate, so to speak, at play. So this will just be one of the important backdrops to all of that, one of the major themes.

In brief the way Pluto works is that it will, through experiences and awareness, draw your attention to wherever there is darkness. Darkness meaning things like trauma, fear, grief, anger, resentment, empowerment versus disempowerment, control, domination… those kinds of things. So when people are going through a significant Pluto transit, and they happen to know anything about astrology, some fear around that can arise because you know you’re dealing with darker aspects of yourself. And we all have them.

If you have Karma whatsoever, or you need to incarnate here, I would argue that you have darkness that needs to be healed, resolved, understood, integrated or whatever. And I myself, because I’ve been here for a reasonably long time, have had several major Pluto transits. And also because I am generally engaged in doing spiritual work, I deliberately and consciously make an effort to do my shadow work. (Shadow work: Pluto.) And as a result I have some familiarity and experience of dealing with the kinds of issues that Pluto will put in your face when you go through a challenging Pluto Transit. And Pluto is so intense and deep and powerful that you can’t really avoid, you know, dealing with whatever comes up. If you don’t confront it consciously and deliberately it’ll be put into your experience – and sometimes quite dramatically – through outer events that seem to be conspiring against you. In fact, what Pluto is trying to do is to get you to purge your darkness. They can be extremely difficult in challenging transits but they can also be the most enlightening and the most liberating transits, if you work with these energies.

For example, I had Pluto square my Moon for several years. Pluto is a very slow moving Planet. Its orbit is roughly 248 years. So generally transits to personal planets or points can take several years to transpire. And when Pluto squared my Moon it brought to my awareness a tremendous amount of subconscious stuff that at times was shocking because I wasn’t even aware that I had all of that stuff within me. And some of it can be kind of dark, you know. And that’s Pluto’s role: Lord of the Underworld. And it can manifest in your outward experience as well, where aspects of your life can go through dramatic and significant changes.

So, so far I’ve just given you kind of a brief synopsis or overview of why Plutonian transits are so powerful, and deep, and significant. And if it’s transiting a house it can take many years to transit through one of your houses in your chart. Transits to planets or points, like I said, generally take a few years depending on retrogrades and so on.

And so now globally we’ve been dealing with Pluto transiting Capricorn. And Capricorn rules the structures, and governance, and institutions, and power centers of our society. And we have been seeing how many of those aspects of society, and our governance, and things like that – and corporate realms – we have been seeing how many of them are corrupt, defunct, out of step with current reality. There have been abuses of power that are just obscene. I mean Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is a great example. It’s just completely over the top.

The benefit to all this though is that it’s showing us where we need to rejuvenate, restore, revisit, revise and update a lot of those structures of our world. New policies. How do we prevent these kinds of things from happening? How do we stop idiots like Putin from even being in a position to do what he’s doing? And it’ll take many years to integrate all that stuff. But as Pluto transits Capricorn we’re becoming extremely aware of all of the dark aspects of those areas of life so that we can transform and heal them. Pluto is often described as being like the Phoenix that rises from the flames of destruction. So we destroy all of these defunct and decrepit means of governance, and leadership, and authority, and then we renew them. And they get to be born again in a much better, healthier way. It’s kind of like clearing out the deadwood. if you’ve ever pruned a tree it can look quite scary. But then after a year or two it is amazing how much new growth comes back. And some trees and shrubs really benefit from a good pruning, when you know what you’re doing. That’s the positive side of all this. You know, we’re still in the middle of all this crazy insanity so we haven’t yet seen – and we probably won’t for years yet – but we haven’t yet seen the benefit of these horrible experiences. These very challenging and difficult experiences.

So now Aquarius, or the 11th house, where Pluto is going to begin transiting in 2023… it’ll make some forays into Aquarius and then it’ll retrograde back into Capricorn. And so this transition from Capricorn into Aquarius is going to take about a year and a half or so until Pluto finally settles in there. But we’ll start to get a sense of how this is going to play out fairly quickly. Now I’m using the house and the sign interchangeably here, they are not exactly the same thing. But for the purposes of this exercise it’ll suffice. This isn’t an astrology class.

And Aquarius, the 11th house, is very different energy from the tenth. The tenth is these structures and institutions and the 11th or Aquarius is how society and the people benefit from all of the stuff that precedes it, because societies and people are actually more important than institutions and power brokers, and stuff like that. Aquarius is really about all of us. And in the contemporary context it literally means all of us in the sense that it’s global. And I have also talked a lot about this Age of Aquarius and how that’s going to play out. It’s about society and egalitarianism. Ultimately part of this Pluto transiting Aquarius though is going to be showing us how those areas of life and those areas of our society are defunct and decrepit. We’re going to become aware of how things are broken or how things are not valid or in the highest good of all. Or that where things aren’t egalitarian. So we’re probably going to very quickly start to become aware of where corruption exists within the context of broader societal values and human rights. And how some nations hoard while others are starving. I mean think about all the humanitarian stuff, right? I mean ideally everything we’re doing really is about, or should be about, making a better world for everybody. But along the way power, and wealth, and resources, and influence gets corrupted because it gets concentrated in the hands of a few. That doesn’t really fit into the Aquarian energy at all. And so all of that stuff, wherever things are broken, wherever things, like I said, are defunct, or limited, or need to be renewed… or destroyed so that we can build better systems.

We’re going to start thinking about and questioning why are things the way they are? What is preventing us from having a truly egalitarian world? Why do people have to pay for what are effectively essential things? I’m just making things up but… to give you some food for thought… but why do people have to pay for things that are essential for survival? That could be food, water, medicine, health care, education… Wherever there is a lack of egalitarianism that stuff is going to be put in our faces very powerfully, directly and probably dramatically. So organizations like the United Nations or other humanitarian organizations, or the policies of governments, the hoarding of power of wealth, of influence, how we don’t act in each other’s highest good, all of that stuff is going to become very apparent to us. And it’s going to need to be addressed. And at times we’re probably going to be shocked by what we see about how corrupt and unfair things are. But the benefit of that is that we will then get to – during this transit through 2044 – fix all that stuff, and make it better… make it work.

The way this kind of works is that if we don’t do the work, if we don’t transform those things in the way that meshes with the energies of Aquarius, we’re going to have some real problems. Like you can’t be in resistance to this energy or it can become very destructive. But we have quite a bit of time to do this.

So those of us, and I really believe, it seems to me, that many of the people who listen to me are very egalitarian, very high-minded, sincere and spiritual seekers and thinkers, we really all have this almost kind of corny vision of the world and how how it should be. But I think that’s rooted in our connection with our spiritual higher selves because on the spiritual dimension there is no separation, or need, or lack… we all are equal and we all have everything we need to exist. And we want to see that manifested here on Earth. And that’s what we’re going to be going through, is what is limiting us, what’s blocking us, what’s interfering with us, what is causing pain and suffering. And, you know, like the fact that people are starving when there’s more than enough food for everyone on the planet it… it’s obscene and it’s stupid and it’s ridiculous. It’s… it’s really gross, Right? When you think about it. So that’s the kind of stuff we’re going to be dealing with, is all the darkness that doesn’t reflect those kinds of higher Aquarian ideals.

Now Aquarius also deals with things like communication and technology. For example, I would not be in the least bit surprised if we were to find out that the extent of government surveillance and logging of our digital footprints is far more extensive and creepy than we already know. And what we know already is very Orwellian. So we will probably become aware of stuff about, you know, things like social media and technology and how it may harm us in some ways. Well we’re already kind of aware of that but I would say that those sectors are going to be kind of in for a bruising. If they aren’t really serving the highest good of all, and if they are actually consciously, or knowingly, or at least aware of the fact, that their methodologies are harming people. That’s not to say they shouldn’t exist. It’s just to say that their values will be questioned and they may need to make a lot of adjustments. Now there may be some companies out there, tech companies, who are actually motivated by very high ideals. And they will rise to the top. Their energies will flow very powerfully. So we could see a lot of changes in the area of technology and Communications and the internet.

The 11th house also covers hopes, and dreams, and wishes. We can expect that in many ways we will collectively experience a reality check and become clear about what our true motivations are, and whether they are in the collective highest good or not. And this may be rather painful and difficult as we come to realize what actually motivates us… whether it’s sustainable, desirable, or realistic. But by the time this transit is through we will likely have transformed our ambitions and desires fairly dramatically. And from my perspective this is something that we need to do desperately because the path that we have been on is literally unsustainable. Again I’ve talked a lot about that kind of stuff in the Pluto and Aquarius – Dawn of Global Consciousness video. so I don’t really want to go into that here.

Aquarius can also be aloof and detached… more mental than heart oriented. So, as I discussed in my prior episode on this topic, there can be issues with not being heart centered. Leading to things like technocratic ways of handling problems. I just want to, like I said, make you aware of of the drama and how Pluto will force us to do the shadow work that relates to Aquarian and 11th house kind of issues. It’s going to be very exciting.

Now, like I said, I don’t fear shadow work. I personally confront it very directly and head on because I think that we grow and evolve very quickly when we do that. When we don’t try and pretend that we don’t have the shadow stuff to do, and that we take responsibility for it. I want to get it out of the way so that I can have a more enlightened experience. But there will be people who will be in resistance to this. And there will be people who are moving society forward in a positive way with respect to 11th house and Aquarian principles. And those people are going to become fairly prominent in a positive way. The people who are doing the very good social and egalitarian type work – and who are affiliated with Aquarian type causes – are going to come into much more prominence.

We will also see the media starting to reflect and discuss and talk about Aquarian type values. It’s just like this energy comes into our global consciousness on a mundane level. “Mundane” is the term we use when we speak about astrology and how it affects the world, as opposed to us personally. And so on a mundane level we’re going to see all of these kinds of energies and influences come into play much more broadly. The shift can be such that you don’t even recognize it happening. It just kind of takes place and sometimes you need to look at it in hindsight before you can really fully appreciate it.

But yeah, the darkness is going to be exposing all of the unconscious ways in which Aquarian and Eleventh House values are corrupted or distorted. So there you go.

Episode transcript:

Greetings all.

Welcome to Aquarian Diary. I’m your host, John Irving. It is October 1, 2023.

The first 10 minutes or so of this episode are dedicated to near-term astrology, for the most part. After that I get more into the meaning or purpose of the transit of Pluto through Capricorn, which we are at the final stages of as I record this.

If you’re listening to this at a much later date, you may want to skip ahead to about the 10 minute 30 second mark.

I haven’t posted anything since September 6th. This last period of time has been very weird. And for a long time I thought it was just me. But then I did a few transit readings, or updates for people, recently. And in speaking to them, they shared that their experiences have been very similar lately. I’ve been kind of laying low waiting for things to shift.

We’ve had an awful lot of planets retrograde, including Saturn, transiting Pisces, and of course Pluto, which has been retrograde since May 1st, and is now back in Capricorn until January 20th of next year.

As I have commented on before, this period with Pluto around 29 degrees of Capricorn is a very karmic cycle. I did a whole episode on that which I would encourage you to check out.

If we look at what’s been happening in the world lately, for me it shows up so clearly.

Saturn retrograding in Pisces is also a karmic signature. A lot of people are dealing with the consequences of actions that have been occurring in recent history.

There’s a daily barrage of news and developments that are often really striking, and that I think will be a major theme, especially right up through January 20th.

So that explains why some of us really don’t want to stick our heads above the trenches. The sense is that we just have to get through this period as best we can, and in many ways, the skies will start to clear come January.

If you’re interested in specific details, I’ll be putting some dates on the screen.

We have a solar new moon eclipse at 21 degrees of Libra on October 14th and a lunar full moon eclipse at 5 degrees of Taurus on October 28th.

Eclipse energies show up, say, 3 months prior to the event and play out up to 6 months after.

If you have significant planets or points at 21 degrees of Libra or 5 degrees of Taurus, give or take a few degrees or in strong aspect to those degrees, these may be especially important for you.

Now many of those major retrogrades are going to be ending over the next few months.

Pluto goes direct on October 10th in Capricorn. It will enter Aquarius on January 20th.

Saturn turns direct on November 4th.

Neptune goes direct on December 6th.

Jupiter goes direct on December 30th.

Uranus won’t go direct until January 27th of next year.

Mercury will go retrograde again on December 13th and turns direct on January 1st. That’s a bit unfortunate because Mercury will be retrograde throughout the holiday season in many parts of the world.

Not only that, but Mercury will square Neptune in Pisces and conjunct Mars in Sagittarius on December 27th while retrograde, if not almost station retrograde, in other words, it’s going to sit there.

Avoid getting into heated arguments or debates, especially with religiously oriented people. One strategy could just be avoidance, but you’ll probably take heat for that anyway.

Make sure you have receipts. Things could get very confused and heated at the same time.

It’s quite something, especially because of the time of year, with traveling and family and all that stuff.

I don’t really mean to get into exhaustive detail here, but that’s one thing that really jumped out at me. It looks messy.

It’s funny, Apple just released its new iPhone, the iPhone 15, during Mercury retrograde. And they’re having quite a few technical problems with the phone. When it was announced, I thought, “Oh, this isn’t good.” Bad timing.

So if you want to avoid issues with holiday gift giving, for example, you might want to do your shopping before, say, November 25th. A bit of a stretch for a lot of people I know, but especially when it comes to tech items and gifts and travel, Mercury retrograde can introduce some issues. This retrograde will be occurring in the early degrees of Capricorn and late degrees of Sagittarius.

Something else that’s come up lately has been in doing transit readings for people which is really helpful because I can help people become aware of how upcoming transits that they may not be aware of may affect them.

A lot of people are trying to make decisions and planning things now and it’s very helpful to know what kind of influences are going to be at play in the coming year or even further out.

And so when you do a transit reading for somebody it’s quite a bit different than a natal reading. The natal reading focuses more on your basic persona and wiring, you know, who you are, what you came here to do, what your basic strengths and weaknesses are. And a transit reading focuses more on what influences are at play in your world or life now or in the near future.

And it can be extremely helpful to have those insights. There have been occasions where people are considering making major changes or initiating new projects and things like that. And I can help offer a lot of insights into the timing of that. So that can be very valuable.

I’ve also been working with people who do spiritual practice and we’ve been combining their astrology with their spiritual practice because I have over many, many years of practice developed a lot of techniques that can help us clear certain types of blockages or focus in on how we can release things like karma and karmic relationships, karmic contracts, and overcome obstacles that are demonstrated in the natal chart.

I can basically tailor techniques that will work in collaboration with the astrology to help people really move forward, and there have been some examples that are highly effective, and that’s something I find very rewarding.

I often get guidance too for how to help people, what things to focus on. There was a really strong example of that just this week, actually. That requires some discipline and effort for people to take advantage of, but it can be extremely powerful. To bring to people’s awareness where some of their blockages or where shadow work needs to be done.

And that’s something I would like to focus on more, because it’s simply so beneficial and transformative.

The astrology is fantastic for giving us kind of a roadmap, and I’m getting really strong chills saying this, but the spiritual work itself is like the actual trip. The astrology gives us clues about where to go and then we need to do the work to get there. It’s absolutely fantastic. I can’t promote that highly enough.

And these techniques actually work. There’s someone I was working with this week who had almost instant results, the first stages of them at least, from just doing a practice once. It’s phenomenal.

And right now we’re in this very intense, karmic clearing cycle, so doing the shadow work is extremely potent and powerful right now. It has to happen so that we can move forward when the energies start shifting.

We’re sort of like in a new moon phase. Yes, the new moon is a great time to be setting intentions. But what you’re actually doing is planting seeds. It takes the seeds a while to germinate and to grow and develop into tangible results. It’s a process. We plant in the spring, but we don’t see the harvest until the summer usually.

So my sense is that we are going to be moving into a much more potent energy around going forward, really beginning early next year.

Again, see my videos on Pluto and Aquarius, because a lot of the stuff I have said in that episode, which I published over a year and a half ago, are being validated in reality.

And that leads me to the main point I really wanted to make today.

And that is this, that all of this craziness, all of the insanity, the breakdown of all of the social structures, political structures, economic systems, our relationship with nature, all of those things are really indicative of the systemic and endemic failures in our paradigm.

I have made this point countless times in past episodes, but it’s really evident right now, that even if we consider the really radical movements in the world that are frightening a lot of us, and justifiably so, and even if we consider the breakdown of the environment, which I have also talked a lot about here before, which is very scary actually right now, these are all telling us that our paradigm is flawed and that it needs systemic changes.

By systemic, I mean, from the ground up. We’re not talking about changes that are just like band-aid solutions. We need really deep and profound changes from the top to the bottom.

So all of the rage and resentment that we witness particularly on the political right, a lot of the irrational and destructive and nihilistic kind of behavior is symptomatic of how these people have been let down by our political and social and economic systems.

I’m not justifying their anger or rage, but I have stated this here before, that our economic system is severely flawed, and we’re not going to correct that until we fix the social and economic injustice that is inherent in our social and political systems. Period.

And when we look at it from that perspective, even people on the left are guilty for the current circumstances.

Those of us who are in positions of comfort, wealth, better education, better living situations, better childhood experiences, those of us who are more aware politically and socially, we have a duty to protect the most vulnerable people in our society, strong chills here. I have said that before as well.

But those of us who are privileged, and that even includes on the global stage, those of us who are privileged, there is more of an onus on us to be responsible for not only ourselves, but for our brothers and sisters and for the planet and its biosphere.

And so because there’s more of an onus on us, we have to step up and defend the rights of all people, regardless of their education level, their social status, their economic status, or whatever.

And until we do that, we are going to continue to see the breakdown of social and political structures.

Yes, there are some people who try and capitalize on these kinds of social inequalities or economic inequalities, or who try and amplify division for their own gain. They are a crass opportunists. That’s to be expected, but we need fundamental changes.

Using the United States, for example, the manufacturing and industrial heartland was basically hollowed out by corporate interests wanted to offshore manufacturing to foreign jurisdictions where labor was dramatically less expensive and workers didn’t have protection or rights. And that was just opportunism.

But the consequences were you ended up with millions of people who were disenfranchised and who felt like they had been let down abandoned or thrown to the wolves by the political, elite, and in many ways they were.

So it’s not surprising that these people are upset. And this applies in countries around the world. This doesn’t just apply to the United States.

As I have said before, when I was a child, my father worked nine to five Monday to Friday, didn’t work evenings, didn’t work weekends, there were four children and a stay-at-home mother and we lived very well on one income. That isn’t even remotely conceivable anymore, unless you’re rich.

People need to feel that their children’s lives have a chance of being better than theirs, and that is not true for millions and millions of people. Young people today can’t even afford to start families. They’re putting it off. Not only that, they are very concerned about the future environmentally and what prospects the future holds for their potential children.

This is a complete failure on the part of older generations. We have let these people down, and we need to own that and take responsibility for it and do something really traumatic about it. This is the most important thing really socially.

We have been sitting here in awe watching all the craziness and all the insanity since the former guy got elected and going like how can people be so irrational. Well, it’s because they’re angry. They’ve been let down. They’ve been abandoned. That is why. It is really, really simple.

The vast wealth disparity, the plutocrats, the oligarchs, the billionaires, our economic system is fundamentally broken. And the consequence is going to be authoritarianism, if not fascism, if we don’t address this.

And that includes the cost of living, the cost of housing, people are getting increasingly stressed, an unprecedented amount of people are living on the streets, and relying on food banks, this is a travesty.

It’s not just the people in those circumstances now, it’s the people who are afraid that they They may be one paycheck away from being in those circumstances. Millions and millions of people. And if we want to avoid the worst case outcomes, we have to address that period.

I came across something back in early September. Actually, it was September 9th.

Typically I start my day by checking the news media for all the major stories, and there’s a whole slew of publications I read or scan every day. And this day, for some reason, I checked USA Today. It’s not a publication I check all that often. However, just by chance, I check USA Today.

And here’s an article which I’ll link in the description and show on the screen. This completely blew my mind. It’s one of the most shocking things I’ve read in a very long time. And I was also really surprised that I didn’t already know this.

It is this that 130 million Americans read below a sixth grade level. That represents more than half the US adult population, according to the Department of Education. I believe I had to read this three times to make sure I was reading it accurately because it was so shocking.

In fact, and I’m not making this up, I was basically ready to publish this episode and I thought I better check to make sure that that USA Today article is actually accurate. I did, and I found that the statistics were fact-checked by Snopes affirmatively. They verify the statistics.

Now I’m a Canadian and I couldn’t find a direct comparison, but I did find a statistic that 93% of Canadians have completed high school. So obviously, they have a much higher literacy rate than this percentage of Americans who only have a grade 6 reading level.

So I read this and I’m like, “Well, it’s no wonder so many Americans fall for disinformation, conspiracy theories are completely out of touch with reality in a lot of ways because As they lack the knowledge, the critical thinking skills, or ability to do research, etc. That explains something I’ve been trying to understand for years.

How can a country as powerful and rich as the United States have half its population with this level of education? It’s almost incomprehensible.

Half the population is functionally illiterate. It doesn’t mean they’re stupid. It just means they’re uneducated.

You can’t have a functioning democracy with millions of people who are basically illiterate.

The first thing that America should be doing is educating its populace. Not only would that help preserve, for example, democracy, it would benefit the country economically in ways that would be incalculable.

It is just baffling how this situation can even exist. But this illustrates my point about how we have not taken care of and let down people who are the basis of our society, of our economies. It affects our healthcare system. It affects everything.

This is a systemic failure of epic proportions. It’s completely baffling to me. But that makes my point.

Countless hours have gone into trying to understand why America has been experiencing what it’s been experiencing since and before the former guy was elected. And the answer is right there. It’s that simple.

My main point was simply that what we have been experiencing, all the tumult, all the craziness that trends towards extremism and autocracy and fascism can all be explained by how we have failed our people.

And it’s true with the environment as well. It’s the same situation, basically.

So we need to get real. And that means making changes and changing our priorities.

We are to be our brothers keeper. Those of us who are privileged, whether it’s intellectually, financially, economically, by virtue of where you grew up, your power, your influence, your authority, whatever it is.

We need to get real and stop being narcissistic. And I’m not saying that the people who are listening to this are like that. You probably aren’t. That’s probably why you’re listening to me because you’re not like that.

But this is the message we need to get to our leaders, those in positions of power and authority that we need to make radical reforms that benefit everyone in our society and everyone on the planet.

And we need to start with the most vulnerable people. That would be the people on the streets, the people who are homeless, the people with mental health issues, the people that need health care.

We triage. We start with the most vulnerable, the most at risk, and we work our way up.

That is my major insight from this period of time that has been so crazy. The world will continue to get more and more crazy until we fix this.

This fits in perfectly with the themes of Pluto transiting Capricorn, which I have talked about a lot. Pluto is showing us how the structures of our societies, our institutions, banking, finance, political systems are failing people. It’s so clear.

But to distill it down to its essence, it is what I have just been talking about. It’s about how we abuse the most vulnerable members of our society and the price now that we’re paying for that gross negligence. The relationship is very, very clear.

Our security, our stability, democracy itself is in peril because these systems are fundamentally flawed and corrupt and they need to be transformed… Pluto.

See my episode on Pluto transiting Aquarius or Pluto at 29 degrees of Capricorn.

Also, I will add that I personally feel that if people aren’t complaining about this, they are tacitly endorsing it.

This clarity that I have, these insights, are a result of all of the recent retrogrades we’ve been experiencing. So we see the benefit of this perspective from something that many people fear. Retrogrades in their natal chart, retrogrades by transit.

This is how we gain wisdom and insights. And I’m grateful for that.

I have a tremendous amount of clarity on things that had puzzled me for a very long time and I hope that’s That’s true in your case as well.

So that’s what I wanted to share.

I still have a 20% discount on readings going on for a while longer, I’m extending that a little bit. I had some technical problems with my website which wasn’t working for a few days so people couldn’t get through to me.

I’ll put links in the episode description to any related content and if you’re interested in a reading with me I’ll put a link to that as well.

Any sincere thanks to everyone who supports me, especially my YouTube members. Thank you very much.

Take care all the best and I’ll talk to you again soon.

Bye for now.

Episode transcript:

Greetings all, welcome to Aquarian Diary.

I’m your host, John Irving.

It is October 10th, 2023.

The bulk of this was recorded on October 8th.

Today, I will primarily talk about something that has been stuck at the forefront of my mind for about a week in terms of things I want to talk about here.

Before I get to that, though, most people in the world are likely aware of what happened in Israel on the weekend. A terrible tragedy.

At that time, Mars was conjuncting the south node in Libra, opposing the north node in Aries of course, and tightly squaring Pluto in Capricorn. A T-square involving Pluto, Mars, and the Nodes.

I also want to draw your attention to this Libra solar eclipse, this New Moon eclipse which is occurring on October 14th, a few days from now.

Eclipses can bring sudden, intense events to areas that they influence.

In mundane astrology, the seventh house, which is ruled by Libra and its ruling planet Venus, governs things like diplomacy and open enemies. These are enemies that you know exist, as opposed to the 12th house, which traditionally ruled hidden enemies, which are enemies you have but you don’t know you have them or you can’t identify them.

So here we see this dramatic, unexpected event that relates to a complete failure or breakdown of diplomacy, perhaps triggered by the violent and explosive energy of Mars squaring Pluto and involving the Nodes, which are very karmic points.

Like I said, it’s surprising, it’s dramatic, and this event is certainly one that will be noteworthy historically, where relations will never be the same going forward.

In fact, I find it quite surprising that nobody predicted this or saw it coming, given its incredibly significant implications geopolitically and historically.

I personally find this very horrible and unfortunate tragedy difficult to contemplate. It’s very disturbing.

In personal astrology, Libra and the 7th house, where the October 14th eclipse is occurring, govern our own close relationships, typically committed ones, as well as business partnerships, and in negative expression, our detractors or “enemies”. So bear that in mind.

We also have, at the same time, and I’ve done a whole episode on this, we have the North Node transiting Aries and the South Node transiting Libra. Which I believe plays into this as well. Aries, of course, is ruled by Mars. Mars is the god of war.

So it’s not surprising to see dramatic expressions of aggression because that is the lower expression of Mars, and a diminishment (South Node) of diplomacy.

In fact, there’s a lot of diplomatic breakdowns that have been occurring recently, even with China, for example, or India, or the BRIC nations.

Countries and leaders are striking out independently (Mars) and a lot of traditional geopolitical policies and alliances are being tested. Rash behavior is not unexpected.

As usual, I will be putting links in the episode description to other episodes where I go into some of these topics in more detail.

But, the North Node entered Aries on July 17th of 2023 and will be transiting Aries until January 11th of 2025.

In the episode prior to this one, I mentioned the two eclipses in October. The second is a lunar eclipse on October 28th at 5 degrees of Taurus. And I also talked about the major retrograde cycles.

And quickly I want to point out here again, just to refresh your memory, that Pluto goes direct on October 10th and then Saturn goes direct on November 4th. So those are coming up fairly quickly.

Neptune will be going direct on December 6th and Jupiter won’t be going direct until December 30th.

Those are major shifts that will be occurring by the end of the year.

When planets are retrograde, think of it like going back and double-checking your path or your progress. Retrogrades give us an opportunity to review or revisit, to make adjustments in our path or direction before we proceed forward again.

This can be very, very useful. It’s kind of like clearing up loose ends.

And so, it’s not surprising that a lot of the issues that we’ve been seeing playing out in the media, and there are many, it’s been incredibly intense from a news and current events perspective. There have been many, many things that are coming to the surface that really need to be addressed in many dimensions of society, politics, human experience, and so forth.

When these planets start moving forward again there will be more of an energy for problem-solving and implementing fixes. Right now there’s a lot of energy going into backtracking a bit, questioning and revisiting topics as I said, giving us a chance to make course corrections before the energy start moving ahead again.

Now we’re still going to have Pluto at 29 degrees of Capricorn which is a really big deal and I also did a whole episode on that as well. I don’t like to be redundant so I’m not going to repeat all of that. You can check the episode description if you want to consider that.

So finally, back to my original mission here.

I have done a couple episodes talking about a lot of the radical kind of experiences, politically and socially, that we have been witnessing in recent years, trying to put them into a historic context. I’ll link those in the description as well.

But I want to express one of those slightly differently because sometimes it helps to look at things from a slightly different perspective. And that is the transit of Uranus through Taurus.

Uranus has been transiting Taurus since 2018 and will complete its transit in 2026. And for various reasons I have pinpointed the time frame of 2026 for the end of a lot of the chaos we’ve been experiencing. I’m not going to repeat all that either here right now.

But the aspect of this transit that I want to focus on a little differently is just that most people associate Taurus – in mundane terms or big picture terms – with property, banking, finance, money, possessions, real estate, and the like.

But on another level, Taurus also represents what we value.

Money is an abstract representation of our value. Why is one thing worth a lot more than something else? That’s because people value it, obviously. Or something may be more valuable because it’s more rare, whether it’s a mineral, a piece of fine art, a property, a car, whatever it is.

Uranus can represent dramatic events and dramatic changes. Things that occur suddenly. Things that are out of step with the past. Things that are radical, extreme, or completely unexpected. It can be shocking, and sometimes it can be so shocking that it actually causes trauma. Because it literally breaks up patterns that we may have clung to.

So when we think about, for example, what’s happened with banking and finance and money and the stock market, real estate and housing, and things like inflation over recent years, it has been truly shocking. A lot of norms and patterns that people predicted and expected were completely upended, and in some cases, shattered.

And the same can be said for our values. We have seen an incredible rise of really extreme and radical values and expressions of those. A lot of it has been incredibly shocking. That is a fact.

If you read the news, you can find completely jaw-dropping, shocking things on almost a daily basis. That’s what I experience.

This can be quite stressful and anxiety-inducing, because you don’t know what to expect next. And a lot of these things are outside of what anyone predicted would occur. So they’re very surprising. This is very Uranian.

My point is that we can expect this all the way through 2026. We get a brief reprieve between July and November of 2025 – that’ll give us a taste of what the new normal is going to look like. But things will start to settle down in some ways then.

Then Uranus is going to transit Gemini from 2025 through 2033.

Now in mundane astrology, the third house, which is what Gemini rules, governs communication, short forms of transportation, a country’s neighbors, that would be countries that are adjacent to them, and local commerce.

So in some ways it includes the internet because the internet is a form of communication, and we also use it for commerce.

But it’s more like your local community as opposed to your country. It’s your town, your village, your neighborhood.

And it includes the media because the media is all about communication.

Now you can expand this tent as large as you want because there are many, many expressions of these kinds of activities.

But we can expect, for example, a lot of changes during that time from 2025 to 2033 about how communities function and there will be probably a lot of shake-up and transformation in news, publishing, communications, the media, any form of expression that conveys knowledge or information, even film or art.

Local commerce will probably go through a lot of radical changes, and there will probably be a lot of involvement with technology and the internet with all of this.

The news media is already in a state of crisis. There are many, many traditional publications which have really been struggling with how to survive in a digital age. And so there is a dearth of local reporting in many cases, which is really unfortunate for a lot of obvious reasons.

And I think we’re going to see a huge shift in transportation. So, electric vehicles, for example, electric cars and trucks, community-based transportation, public transportation, all of those kinds of things are going to be up for radical evolution and change.

Now, Uranus can manifest quite shockingly, as I’ve explained. So, a lot of these changes are not necessarily going to be received as being beneficial by everybody. A lot of the stuff that will occur will be upsetting.

I expect that many of these issues will pertain to environmental issues, like think about what’s happening for example with the Mississippi River and New Orleans right now, where suddenly they’re finding out that their water supply is being contaminated by saltwater intrusion because of drought and sea level rise.

So there may not be a lot of stability within the boundaries of traditional communities, whether it’s a town or village, the suburbs, whatever.

By now, we’re all aware of these really unprecedented, extreme weather events that have been really devastating to a lot of communities around the globe, whether it’s floods or wildfires or smoke or drought.

Even now, insurance companies are starting to pull out of a lot of these markets and even if it’s available, insurance is becoming insanely expensive. So this makes people vulnerable and puts them and their properties and their communities at risk. We know that the climate situation will worsen for years to come, even under the best case scenarios.

Uranus can fracture things. I’ve seen that in my own personal experience with significant Uranus transits to my personal planets. And like I’ve said before, it can be traumatic.

So, with Uranus in the sector of communities, I think that those kinds of things are probably going to reach a completely different level.

And because Uranus breaks things up, we may start to see people being displaced and dealing with all of the stress and anxiety about that. Where we find that these communities that have been a place of refuge for generations no longer feel secure or safe.

For some reason, the suburbs came to my mind a lot while I was thinking about this.

You know, I hate to say this because I’m a fan of the country, but we might start to realize that we are quite vulnerable in rural settings where we don’t have as much infrastructure or as many municipal services under these kinds of conditions.

I’m going out on a bit of a limb here, but whatever it is, community and community life will be disrupted and changed and broken up in some ways. Living situations may be more transient or less permanent than what we’re familiar with.

Another possibility would be, say, homes get a lot smaller, so they change a lot in size, or maybe they are mobile.

And a lot of this may relate to commerce and the way that commerce is conducted on a local level. We know that there has been a huge consolidation of power and ownership in many, many sectors of the economy, whether it’s grocery store chains, agribusiness, meat processing, sales, whatever.

There will be a lot of stress and strain and changes and things are going to be breaking in a lot of those areas. And like I said, there will certainly be changes that were not expected.

It could also be, for example, that there are new forms of energy, maybe that are distributed, where people are producing their own energy at home, which leads them to be less dependent on utilities or the power grid, that would be very Uranian and technology-driven, which is a Uranian thing.

And like I said there could be tremendous breakthroughs with transportation. For example, batteries with really significant range capabilities could suddenly become available at a much cheaper price, which would completely upend the entire automotive industry. It’s already being dramatically altered, but this would take it to a whole new level and it would occur much more quickly.

Or maybe driverless or autonomous vehicles take off to the point where they become a major form of transportation for people. It could be that it’s much cheaper to use them than it is to buy or lease a vehicle because they will just show up whenever you need them. And you don’t have the monthly lease or bank loan expense and all the other costs associated with owning a vehicle, like maintenance. And a lot of people could adopt that because vehicles are a major expense for people.

That also would have really important implications for us as individuals, for our communities, and for the automotive and transportation industry, which in many cases are locally owned enterprises that could become redundant overnight. Truck drivers are a classic example.

And also for the government, because they generate a lot of tax revenue from vehicles, highways, driving infractions, vehicle licensing fees, and so on. And how do governments tax labor that’s done by machines or computers?

These are the kind of disruptions we should probably anticipate. The technology is there, it just needs to reach a level of maturity. Those kinds of changes would have profound implications.

I would expect to see, in the publishing and news industry, that a lot of things are going to make a shift into being truly digital during this time. And whatever happens with the news and media will likely be something that nobody really fully anticipated. There might have been a few people who saw it coming, but the vast majority of people won’t have seen this coming.

One possibility that might fit into these energies might be a lot of journalists operating independently, because Uranus doesn’t like boundaries. And that’s already kind of starting to happen with podcasting.

The current generation of AI [artificial intelligence] is advancing at an unbelievable pace, and it has the potential to displace countless jobs in fields like the media and publishing and journalism.

But beyond that, combining AI with robotics could render millions of jobs obsolete, which would devastate communities. We would either have completely unprecedented unemployment rates, akin to the Great Depression, or the government is going to have to step in and offer some form of universal basic income.

Internet connectivity itself, right to your home, could also be revolutionized, such that it becomes available to people even if they’re, for example, in far-flung places. We already have satellite connectivity, but that could dramatically expand and become more broadly available or ubiquitous. Like for example, imagine if satellite connectivity was built right into your laptop as a standard thing where you don’t need a wired connection or even Wi-Fi anymore.

There will also likely be a lot of really significant developments with things like computing and cell phone technology. We think our phones are pretty sophisticated right now and they most certainly are compared to what they were like a decade ago, but the proliferation of them and their capabilities will likely go through really profound evolution during this time.

This whole notion of us being digitally connected will be taken to completely different levels. It might even mean, for example, that things like electronic voting takes hold, where we can weigh in on things almost instantaneously.

Digital currencies is another thing. Many people may not realize this, but China is moving very, very quickly towards a purely digital technology for its currency. For day-to-day use, this is the third house.

In fact, even people on the street in China who, for example beg for money, need to have smartphones because people don’t have cash.

So, that’s really good in some ways because it reduces a lot of middlemen. Like when your employer pays you, the money is instantaneously in your account. When you purchase something, it instantaneously goes from you to someone else and there’s fewer middlemen.

Like credit card companies, for example, may not welcome this because they charge a lot of fees on transactions. But if you can make a payment instantaneously with no middlemen, what do you need them for? Think about that. It has huge implications.

The downsides are that the Chinese government can monitor every single transaction by everyone in the country at any point in time. That is really scary. If someone is critical of the Chinese government, they can be cut off from making financial transactions, which basically would bankrupt them. So this can be a very powerful tool of autocratic control and oppression. So there’s potential for abuse, but there’s also upsides to it.

Now that’s going to put pressure on the United States to also move forward with this technology because they don’t want to be left behind. China is not a direct threat yet in terms of America’s reserve currency, but the US cannot ignore the trends.

So I would not be surprised to see this become a major theme for, for example, the European Union and the United States and other major countries to start seriously implementing digital currencies, for better or for worse.

Because we use currencies in our commerce, day-to-day commerce. That’s the third house.

As someone who has been very involved in internet and internet technology for many years, I don’t even like raising the prospect of this, but I would not be surprised to see a lot of battles over control of the internet and the role of journalism and the media during this cycle.

There may very well be attempts by various governments to try and rein in internet activity, even if some of it is well-intentioned. It may have unforeseen and unexpected consequences and there could be a lot of battles over that. The government may think that it needs to put its foot down, but at what cost?

I am a huge advocate of free speech. There is a fine line between free speech and irresponsible or dangerous speech. Now clearly those that cross that line have to be held accountable, but that is a very slippery slope.

We’re already seeing that begin here in Canada, where the government is trying to implement legislation that many people find very concerning and troubling. And others are arguing that, well, we need to do something about it. But the question is, what do you do, and who are the gatekeepers? And who are the gatekeepers aligned with?

It’s a very complicated, tricky issue, and very few countries in the world even anticipated these kinds of problems, much less what forms of legislation would address them, without stepping on people’s freedoms.

The flip side of that might be that we have much greater privacy laws and digital protections.

It would also not be surprising to see large monopolies in the tech space being taken to task for unfair business practices, for example. Uranus can break things up.

Some of these discussions are already underway with, for example, Google in the United States, as well as Amazon, which are being accused of monopolistic and predatory practices.

Now one other thing that’s really important to note here is that Uranus in Taurus will be trining Pluto in Aquarius the whole time that it’s in Gemini. This is really important.

The trine is the most harmonious or easy flowing aspect in astrology. The energies, in fact, can flow so smoothly that we take them for granted.

But what that means is that this relationship between Pluto and Uranus, two of the big players, will be very harmonious and the energy will flow incredibly easily. It’s like the volume knob is turned all the way up and there’s very little resistance between the two.

Pluto representing change and transformation, death and rebirth, is going to be in this very powerful harmonious aspect to Uranus and Gemini for this whole six or seven year period. And so, these kinds of changes that I’m talking about are going to be flowing very powerfully and without a lot of obstruction.

It doesn’t mean that we as people are going to find that easy because change is just going to be happening so fast and so constantly that it’ll be hard to keep up with. And people, generally, some more than others, like things to be predictable. But in many ways they won’t be.

Of course, I did a huge episode on Pluto and Aquarius, which is really about this shift in consciousness to more of a global level, where we have a trend towards global egalitarianism and connectedness and awareness. The breakdown of the smaller tribes, more of a focus on us as a species and our place in the world. And Aquarius is very intelligent and rational, generally.

So think about how this effect is going to play out for us, like on a community level in our day-to-day lives. It has really big implications if you take all the things I’ve been talking about and meld them together.

So there will be a surge of change and evolution in a very forward-looking, rational, and globally conscious egalitarian perspective.

Now Pluto will be showing us the negative sides of Aquarius because it has to purge. It has to purge the darkness, the garbage. It will be bringing that to our attention wherever we’re not expressing the energies of Aquarius or the 11th house authentically.

So we’re definitely going to have challenges, but the overriding agenda will be to purge all of those false expressions of Aquarius so that we can manifest the accurate and positive expressions of it.

So we’re going to see how governments and organizations and groups and groupthink and nations and tribalism are expressed in its lowest expression or in ways that are antithetical to Aquarius, on a higher level, so that we can get past that. It’s really about what we want the future to look like.

Pluto transits are never easy, but they can be profoundly transformative and sometimes old ways of being and old ways of thinking need to die so that new ones can take their place. It’s very regenerative, but there can be that metaphorical death part of the cycle, and there often is.

The third house, or where Uranus will be transiting in Gemini, is a mutable house, meaning that it is more adaptive and flexible about changes, and is capable of seeing things from different perspectives. So, the overall trend won’t be necessarily as dramatic, perhaps, as it was in the fixed sign of Taurus.

And, of course, yes, in the third house, Uranus is in trine to the house that it rules.

On a personal level, if you have significant planets or points in Gemini, you’re going to be experiencing a lot of very noteworthy and sometimes sudden developments or changes.

While in Gemini, Uranus will be squaring Pisces and Virgo and opposing Sagittarius. Those are all very significant aspects as well.

So, whatever planets or points, like your Ascendant or Midheaven, are in aspects of square, opposition or conjunction to Uranus, things will happen and they can be quite intense and disruptive, and forever change the course of matters that pertain to those planets or points or houses.

As I’ve mentioned, Uranus will be trining Aquarius and Libra during this time and sextiling Aries and Leo. Those are the more easy-flowing energies or aspects.

You’ll have to check your chart for more details on how this transit will play out for you.

So that’s a bit of what you can expect when Uranus moves from the values area into the communication and community area. And again, this is local community, not global community.

So there’s a transformation happening on the global scale, which is Pluto, as well as how that percolates down to and expresses and manifests in our local communities.

However it plays out, you can expect it to be dramatic and unexpected and sometimes shocking.

But at least by then, we won’t be dealing with the radical extreme expressions of values that we’ve been seeing relentlessly for years now. To the point where even democracies are under direct threat. Where it seemed like the genie was let out of the bottle with respect to our psychology around values. A lot of people were saying the quiet part out loud, which is pretty shocking because they’re not supposed to do that, even if that’s how they feel on the inside.

That cycle will be finishing in the next few years.

So that’s what I wanted to say. This is a lot longer than I thought it would be, but I guess that’s just how long it takes to express these things.

Episode transcript:

Greetings all!

Welcome to Aquarian Diary.

I’m your host, John Irving.

It is December 20th, 2023.

This is just a quick update to draw people’s attention to something that is very important. It is something I have talked a lot about on my channel here for a very long time.

That is, that as of yesterday, December 19th, 2023, Pluto entered 29 degrees of Capricorn, which is the anaretic degree.

The very final degree of an astrological sign is considered to be particularly intense because the energies of that sign, the whole 30 degrees, which in the case of Pluto, which began its transit in 2008, is completing that multi-year journey.

So what tends to happen, even if you have a planet at 29 degrees in your natal chart, that planet, depending on the sign in the house, will have an exaggerated effect.

So Pluto now has moved into the anaretic degree, 29 degrees, where it will be until January 20th of 2024. So basically a month.

As someone who follows the news a lot, quite carefully, everything seems to be very exaggerated right now. It’s like the volume has been turned to 11, and especially with respect to the issues that relate to Capricorn, or the 10th house in many ways, as I have articulated in previous episodes.

So we’re seeing the worst aspects of all of those themes, whether it is unhinged billionaires, the rise and unprecedented fervency of autocratic right-wing politics and political movements, the structures and institutions of our societies being challenged, or having their failures become blatantly evident to us.

If you’re feeling really discouraged or disappointed right now, which I am in many ways, because I find a lot of the things that are happening right now are very disturbing, that is not unusual.

The whole point of this transit is to show us the failures and flaws that underpin a lot of our assumptions about these institutions and structures of society, particularly that deal with those in positions of leadership and power. Pluto represents power. So we are seeing basically how the system is corrupt.

We now have the former president of the United States, who, by the polls at least, is a leading contender to be the next president, again, even though he is shockingly inept, unqualified, and is under investigation for criminal behavior on multiple different levels and in multiple different jurisdictions.

Again, the point of all this is to show us how desperately those areas of human life and activity need to be reformed, and probably dramatically so, at least if we care about things like democracy.

In some ways, it’s kind of like just before a new moon, when the light is diminished to its darkest state, before you begin a new cycle. So bear that in mind if you’re disturbed by what’s happening. These are the darkest hours. But it won’t necessarily last, at least like this.

It’s not that we won’t have a lot of work to do, because what happens with Pluto is that it will destroy or undermine things that are no longer valid, or that are corrupt, and make us all aware of that as part of the process.

And then we have to actually go and do all the work to transform and rebirth those areas or themes, to renew them and ensure that they reflect the reality that we want legitimately.

In the case of all the resurgence of the right-wing stuff, we have to ask what conditions precipitated or allowed that to occur. How could this happen? Why did it happen? And how do we prevent that? Or what changes do we need to make?

In other words, where did all the anger and resentment come from and what do we need to do to address those kinds of conditions? Why do people feel alienated?

And I’ve argued that a lot of it is just plain economics. That if you look at the distribution of wealth over the past 50 years, our quality of life has actually been deteriorating.

The situation for young people right now is very bleak. It used to be that your children could have a better life than you, and that’s not true anymore. And it has to do with economic inequality.

And both the right and the left are responsible for allowing that to occur. There may be more blame on the right, who lowered taxes for billionaires, but, for example, it was Bill Clinton who opened up a lot of foreign trade, which offshored a lot of jobs. Globalization, etc., etc., etc.

So in your personal life, depending on what house Pluto is transiting, the lessons that you’ve been learning since 2008 with Pluto transiting that house may be coming to a head. It’s like there’s an exclamation point that is showing you any final flaws that are in need of reform, renewal, and regeneration.

And if there was work that needed to be done that wasn’t, Pluto can hit very hard. It can actually destroy things to basically clear the ground for a new beginning.

Pluto is going to retrograde back into Capricorn one more time next year. That’s from September 1st until November 19th of 2024. And then it is done, finished, transiting Capricorn, and it will be in Aquarius for the most part through 2044. That is 20 years. A whole new cycle.

And of course, I will put links in the episode description to other episodes where I go into this in more detail.

So we shouldn’t be surprised that things are off the charts, happening very fast, very intensely. The seeming war between reactionary movements and forces and progressive ones is reaching a climax. And temporarily at least it may seem like the progressive forces are on their back foot. But that’s only temporary.

The last time that Pluto went into Aquarius, which was actually the first time that it went into Aquarius, in any of our lifetimes at least, was from March 23rd of this year until June 11th. And I recall personally that when Pluto went into Aquarius I felt a huge shift, which I like because it’s an air sign, and that suits me much better, personally.

And then on June 11th when Pluto moved back into Capricorn retrograde, I felt kind of the reverse. Like, instantly I felt this heavy, weighty energy. Pluto in Capricorn, the ruler of Capricorn, is Saturn. Saturn is a heavy energy that doesn’t like to move or shift and is very rigid.

And for some people it can manifest as being very controlling and repressive. And Saturn is not known for being fun at all, actually. It usually means work and concentration and focus and duty and responsibility. And yes, those things are important, of course, but they’re not light, they’re not entertaining, they’re not expansive. It’s more of a contracting energy.

So this is really important. Again, through January 20th we’re going to be dealing with a lot of really intense energy. We’re probably going to continue to see things that occur that are shocking.

Again, the rhetoric of Trump recently, which is unparalleled given its scale and implications, that is so reminiscent of what happened in the 1930s in Germany, for many people it’s very shocking.

There’s roughly 40% of the population that is either authoritarian-leaning or capable of being triggered to be an authoritarian. In other words, these tendencies are latent.

I’ll put a link in the episode description to an episode of Background Briefing that actually just came out yesterday that discusses this a bit more, the psychology of it.

So there are some people who are hardcore authoritarian. And then there’s another segment whose authoritarian tendencies can be triggered under stress or duress. And we are clearly in very stressful times.

It appears as if we’re going backwards socially. And politically there’s a lot of stuff happening on the right-leaning side of the spectrum, which is quite surprising to a lot of people. But again, that’s being triggered, especially for the next month or so.

One thing I should point out, recall that I stated that Pluto will make its final retrograde into Capricorn from September 1st to November 19th of 2024. The 60th US federal election will be on November 5th of 2024. Anyone who pays attention to current affairs knows that this election is going to be extremely important for the whole world. That election is occurring when Pluto is at 29 degrees of Capricorn.

So it could be very dramatic. It could be a situation where there is kind of like a final face-off between reactionary and progressive forces. It’s going to be intense regardless, that whole period.

But again, it is the very final time that Pluto will be in Capricorn for over two centuries. It’s a really big deal.

I’ll just remind you of one other thing as well. As I’ve stated in my previous episodes, the last time that Pluto was in Aquarius, which is where we’re just about to go, we had the French and the American revolutions. Extremely, extremely important.

Aquarius is an air sign.

It is all about moving forward and dramatic changes, and it moves very quickly. It’s not stuck energy in the same way that an earth sign like Capricorn is.

Aquarius is very independent, rational, intellectual. It challenges the status quo, and it generally has very progressive and egalitarian, and that’s key, egalitarian values. The right is not egalitarian by definition, which is in stark contrast to the energies of Capricorn and its ruling planet Saturn.

That is why, as Pluto is at this critical degree, everything is so polarized and extreme because the energies are very, very different.

Mercury is retrograde until January 1st. That adds a bit to the confusion.

Jupiter, which can represent our philosophy and our higher values, and things like higher education and international or foreign related themes, as well as optimism, has been retrograde since September 4th and doesn’t go direct until December 30th.

So December 30th, Jupiter goes direct. January 1st, Mercury goes direct. January 20th, Pluto enters Aquarius.

There’s going to be a lot of shifting energy over the next month. It’s a really big deal, and this shift of Pluto from Capricorn into Aquarius is also a very, very big deal. So a lot is going to happen.

Things can appear very dark right now, but like I said, in many ways, it’s like the dark before the dawn. So hang in there.

I mean, I find a lot of things that are happening are just like jaw dropping constantly and horrifying. But in many ways, the rebirth cycle is just around the corner.

And remember, despite all of the batshit crazy stuff that’s happening right now, all of this authoritarian, controlling, dominating, punitive, vengeful, grievance-centered, belligerently oriented energy…

Aquarius is very egalitarian. It’s very progressive. It’s very socially conscious. It believes in social justice. It is not top-down or hierarchical. It is not tribalistic.

Because I know a lot of you are like me – that’s why you’re listening to me – despite how dark and nasty and negative, and let’s face it, what we’re really seeing is how our social and political systems have been corrupted by literal criminals. These are criminals who should be prosecuted, as far as I’m concerned. They are anti-social, sociopaths, if not psychopaths. They need to be rooted out from our systems of governance and control, whether it’s corporate, political, banking, finance, etc.

And all these dark money groups that are operating behind the scenes to reshape society for their own personal benefit, all that crap, that energy is in complete conflict with the energy of Aquarius. So just remember that.

I know that things look really, really bad right now, but we’re going to have that energy of Pluto in Aquarius for 20 years. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy or that there isn’t going to be battles, but the tide is moving in the direction of a more progressive, egalitarian, and just society for all around the world.

It’s up to us to root out the criminal and corrupt elements in our systems of governance on a global scale. That is what we are going to be focused on for the next 20 years. And that may mean that there are literal battles that will take place to arrive at that outcome.

As far as I’m concerned, and I’ve said this before too, we shouldn’t even be doing business with corrupt regimes or foreign countries that are anti-democratic.

A lot of what’s happening, I think, geopolitically is blowback for us compromising our ethics and values and being hypocritical in pursuit of profit or strategic advantage. We could have placed pressures on them to change if they wanted to do business with us, but we did not. Not sufficiently anyway.

And there have been plenty of cases where Western countries literally installed dictatorships or subversively toppled democratically elected governments with horrific outcomes.

How much more hypocritical can one possibly be? We have been enabling dictators and autocrats for profit. You can imagine the magnitude of the karma. Gigantic.

So hang in there, and like I said, fasten your seatbelts. And don’t give up. Don’t lose hope, no matter what anyone tells you.
